Assad regime signs a new agreement with Iran to secure fuel
The Assad regime signed a new agreement with Iran that stipulates securing fuel under loans, as Tehran will send oil in cycles over the coming months, according to loyal sources.
The agreement came after the arrival of the Assad regime’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Faisal Mekdad Tuesday on August 2, to Tehran, accompanied by the Minister of Communications and the Minister of Foreign Trade.
According to the sources, the new agreement guarantees the import of oil on a systematic and regular basis, in addition to securing other additional quantities through the commercial line.
The sources revealed that the new agreement will secure 2 million barrels of oil per month, to solve the problem of delayed supplies in the last period, due to the financial deficit.
The Assad regime also uses two means to import Iranian fuel, the largest of which is through long-term loans, according to what it calls the “credit line.”
While the second method is the “commercial line,” as the companies affiliated with the Assad regime import the material.
