US President calls on Assad regime to release the journalist Austin Tice

US President Joe Biden called on for the release of the American journalist Austin Tice who was abducted in Syria by Assad regime since August 2012.

Biden’s statement came on the 12th anniversary of Tice’s abduction.

Biden said in a statement: “We have repeatedly pressed the Assad regime to work with us to bring Austin home, and I once again call for his immediate release.”

Biden added: “We stand in solidarity with Austin, his family, and all Americans wrongfully detained and held hostage a broad, and I will continue to do everything possible to advocate for and pursue his release and support his loved ones until he is safely returned home.”

Austin Tice was abducted to cover the events of the Syrian revolution, he was then 31 years old, his family believes that he is alive and still detained in Syria.

Biden had accused the Assad regime of detaining Tice in 2022 and has worked on securing his release, but Assad regime’s foreign ministry denied detaining any American citizen, including Tice.

It is noteworthy that the United States of America was among the top countries to sever its relations with the Assad regime after the outbreak of popular protests against it in 2011, and then Arab and Western capitals also break off their relations and imposed harsh sanctions on Assad regime.
