Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi welcomed the rapprochement efforts between Assad regime and Ankara.
Al-Sisi and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, discussed in Ankara on September 4th the bilateral relations and a number of regional files, including Syria.
Al-Sisi and Erdogan expressed their aspiration to reach a solution to the Syrian crisis affecting unprecedentedly the brotherly Syrian people.
The discussions between the two sides, in Al-Sisi’s first visit to Turkey since he assumed the presidency in Egypt in 2014, reflected a similarity of views on regional issues, primarily the situation in Gaza and the Israeli violations of Palestinian rights, and the files of Syria, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa, with a relative discrepancy regarding the situation in Libya, according to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper.
The Egyptian President arrived in the Turkish capital, Ankara, on Wednesday, on an official visit at the invitation of the Turkish President, the first presidential visit in 12 years.
