Erdogan: The victory of the Syrians in their revolution is a victory for Turkey and its people
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed that “the victory of Syrians in their revolution that toppled al-Baath party is also a victory for Turkey and its people as their neighbors.”
Erdogan’s statement came during an event of his justice and development party in the state of Şanlıurfa in which he said: “We firmly reject every exclusionary position that targets our brotherhood extending for a thousand years in this region.”
Erdogan made it clear that “the division and marginalization methods did not find a place for it in Turkey’ policy and its government, he also criticized the opposition’s demonization of Syrian refugees during the presidential election campaign in 2023 and its threat to forcibly deport them.”
Erdogan continued: “We will not grant the opportunity for those who seek to make us enemies of each other. We reject dividing the communities on the basis of ethnicity, doctrine, or their lifestyle.”
Erdogan stated that the joy of the Syrian city of Aleppo is the joy of the Turkish state of Şanlıurfa and that the victory of Hama, Homs, and Damascus is also the victory of Şanlıurfa.
Erdogan pointed out that “all should know that we, the Turks, Arabs, Kurds, and Turkmens, we are one and united. We all the children of the same land, the same history, the same future, calling on the Syrian Democratic Forces to lay down their arms.”
Erdogan considered that “the era of using terrorism as a weapon, a tool, and a means to achieve goals in the region has completely ended, and the time of exploitation of our region through terrorist organizations has passed.”
At the end of his speech, Erdogan expressed his desire for the prominent feature of our region, and of Damascus, Aleppo, and Hasakah (Syria), and Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, and Baghdad (Iraqi), to be economic, commercial, and humanitarian cooperation, and not tension and instability.
