The National Coalition calls to help the displaced in northern Syria camps to face the winter season
The National Coalition has sent a set of messages to humanitarian organizations and donors concerning the winter needs in northern Syria camps.
Salem Al-Maslat, head of the National Coalition, sent letters to King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, Qatar Fund for Development, Qatar Red Crescent, the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, the representative of the ruler of Abu Dhabi in the Al Dhafra region, and the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths. .
Al-Maslat pointed out that with the beginning of winter season each year, the suffering is renewed in Syrian refugee camps in northern Syria.
He explained that this suffering is exacerbated by the spread of the Corona pandemic, as the displaced fear a disaster in their camps, which lack the minimum health and humanitarian conditions.
Al-Maslat called for helping the displaced in northern Syria to face the winter and its severe cold, and work to improve the insulation of tents to prevent rainwater from leaking and collapsing during rain and snow storms. In addition to improve sanitation systems and roads within the camps to avoid floods that damage tents and shelter materials for the displaced. He also calls to provide fuel and heating supplies to all displaced persons in all camps to protect them from disease.
Al-Maslat noted that “winter has become an obsession for the Syrians, as the region witnessed rain and snow that caused multiple damages and left tragic scenes in their memory.”
The displaced people in the camps of northern Syria and neighboring countries live in tragic conditions every winter, due to bad weather conditions, amid continuous calls for humanitarian organizations to provide the basic needs of the displaced to ease their suffering in the winter. The National Coalition calls to help the displaced in northern Syria camps to face the winter season
